About

We set a certain amount of money to provide inclusive financial services for parents or caretakers raising children with disabilities to help them cope and build sustainable livelihoods for CWDs. Under this initiative, having a child with a disability among others like having an achievable business plan qualifies you to a reasonable loan to kick start your self-employment career. This has so far benefited mothers who were abandoned by their partners/husbands after giving birth to a child with a disability, these mothers get over whelmed emotionally, physically and financially.

Goal

We decided to wave off the financial burden with a goal of improving their motherhood duties and the livelihoods of children they are raising. The benefit we have witnessed is parents accepting these children more because of this financial support.

Challenge

It’s no secret parents raising children with disabilities struggle with balancing work and being attentive parents. These children are very demanding in terms of emotional and physical support and we have received cases of parents getting fired from their jobs for being late or absent because their children got seizures or needed to be rushed to the hospital. On top of this, maids or house helps have proved to be intolerant of these children which often leads mistreatments, violation of their rights, and abandoning them because they feel the job of taking care of a child with a disability is too much, it is for this reason that we decided to come up with this project to help parents/caretakers start businesses in the proximity of their homes as to be able to earn a living and be attentive to these children. However, the resources we have cannot support as many families as we wish to help.
